Independent film ‘Axed’ wins awards for FX

Independent film ‘Axed’ which Sharp FX created Zombie and gore makeup effects for wins awards:

‘Best Special FX’ at the Bram Stoker International Film Festival 2010
‘The Mile High Gore Award’ at Mile High Horror Film Festival 2010

The film also won the ‘Independent spirit award’ at A Night Of Horror International Film Festival 2011
Three students from the special makeup effects course in 2007 assisted with the makeup effects for the film.

The Sharp FX 2011 prosthetic makeup fx course is now open for enrolments. Sharp FX  runs a part time Advanced Special Effects Makeup Course held every Saturday from 9.00 to 5.00

 The course covers life casting , sculpting, mould making, all aspects of foam latex prosthetic make-up, acrylic teeth, fake eyes, bladder and blood pumping effects and the use of many different products plus more. Leonardo Da Vinci ‘Anatomy to Robots’

Sharp FX recently finished work on an ultra realistic mannequin of world famous historical artist Leonardo Da Vinci, created for a new showing of the artists work. The mannequin can be seen at the world premier of the Leonardo Da Vinci ‘ANATOMY to ROBOTS’ exhibition running from 17th of October 2009 – 31st of January 2010 in Melbourne. The exhibition will then travel to Sydney and then around the world.



Prey Premieres

Sharp FX created all of the Prosthetic make-up FX for ‘ PREY ‘ which is due to premieres in Melbourne and Sydney in May ’09 at invitation-only events. The movie will then continue to run for a strictly limited season at selected cinemas throughout Australia, ahead of the film’s DVD release.

Following the Australian launch, Prey will premiere in the US to select cinemas in July ’09. Xenon Pictures (USA) has acquired all North American rights for theatrical distribution in the USA through Lionsgate Films and in Canada through Universal. A VIP premiere is planned in Las Vegas.
