2011 Advanced Makeup FX Students assist Sharp FX with Zombie prosthetic makeups for Canberra short film “The Philosophical Zombie”.
From February until late October 2011 Russell Sharp, the director of Sharp FX, was working in Wellington New Zealand at Weta Workshop. During this time the majority of work was on Peter Jacksons new movie the prequel to Lord of the Rings , 'The Hobbit'.
"It was a great experience working with the multi award winning company, Weta, and has opened up the opportunity of more overseas work and valuable industry contacts".
The opportunity also arose for a student from the 2010 Advanced Makeup FX course to work at Weta and they were able to work on several projects in their 6 months of employ there.
The Hobbit is being released in two parts with the first due for release at the end of 2012.

After having great success with their makeup fx course in Canberra and constant requests from people looking for a reputable fx course in melbourne Sharp FX has decided to branch out.
In 2012 Sharp FX will be also be running their advanced makeup fx course in Melbourne Victoria. The course will run for 40 weeks 9-5 every Sunday, course covers life casting, sculpting, mould making, all aspects of foam latex prosthetic make-up, acrylic teeth, fake eyes, bladder and blood pumping effects, the use of many different products plus much more. The cost of the course covers all materials and students also receive a starter kit.

Sharp FX creates new realistic Mannequin for the Friends of RAAF Melbourne.

Sharp FX works with Phill Beadsmoore to create four fibreglass sculpted mannequins for the new BHP museum exhibition in Newcastle.
Russell Sharp is asked to work for Weta Workshop on Peter Jacksons new film ‘The Hobbit’.
Russell starts work in Wellington, New Zealand on the 21st of March 2011.

The film also won the ‘Independent spirit award’ at A Night Of Horror International Film Festival 2011
